TRACsa: Trauma and Injury Recovery

www.tracsa.org.au

MAC funds TRACsa, a centre of excellence building the knowledge base and improving the quality of service provision for people injured on the road or at work. Its focus is on better health outcomes for people with compensable injuries, through developing best practice treatment and recovery initiatives for:

  • health professionals
  • claims consultants and case managers
  • employers and vocational training service providers
  • legal service providers.

TRACsa works to ensure evidence-based best practice assessment and treatments are available to all South Australians. The current priority for TRACsa is soft tissue injuries, which account for nearly half of all Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance claims. These are injuries where there may be no obvious signs of a break and are not catastrophic in nature (sprains, strains, whiplash associated disorders (WAD), lower back pain etc).

TRACsa's key programs

Pathways to recovery

Increasing awareness of the optimal clinical pathways to recovery and the role of compensation

Access to services

Improving equitable and timely access to recognised best practice assessment, treatment and rehabilitation services

Integration and coordination

Improving the integration of systems to enable the coordination of effective health, legal and claims services

The knowledge base

Supporting the planning, delivery and evaluation of services and interventions that improve recovery and health outcomes

TRACsa's Vision

To be a world leading centre of excellence on recovery from road trauma and workplace injuries

TRACsa's Mission

To drive improved health and social outcomes for South Australians who have suffered as a result of road trauma and workplace injuries.

TRACsa is governed by an independent Board appointed by the Treasurer and chaired by the Hon Greg Crafter. TRACsa works closely with the Motor Accident Commission and WorkCover SA. http://www.workcover.com/
