The following information may help after a crash:
- Call '000' (Police, emergency services, ambulance)
- Provide assistance to others at the scene if you can
- Put your hazard lights on and take care at the scene. If possible, move your vehicle to the side of the road
- Exchange contact and registration details with other drivers(s). If there are witnesses, get their contact details too
- Report the crash to Police. This should be done within 24 hours. Write down the report reference number (you may need it if you make an insurance claim)
- Seek medical attention
Insurance claims
- Contact your insurance company to see if you are eligible to make a claim for vehicle damage (you are not covered for vehicle damage by Compulsory Third Party (CTP) Insurance, which is paid as part of your car registration)
- Contact SA's CTP claims manager, Allianz, to see if you are eligible to make a claim for personal injury compensation.
