We all know that being safe on the road can ultimately save lives and prevent serious injuries – but being courteous on the road can save a lot of love-lost!
There are many road user behaviours that infuriate us while we’re driving or using the road, so we’ve prepared a list of some of the worst (really, a list of how not to act on the road);
No friendly wave when another driver lets you in to merging traffic (a small gesture that can last the day)…
Banking across an intersection in heavy traffic where cars could be turning into the adjoining road…
No indicator before CUTTING into a lane in traffic!
Not waving a pedestrian across a road you’re about to turn into, but it’s safe for them to cross (knowing that they’re vulnerable road users and it only takes an extra few seconds of our time).
Eating or applying lipstick when the lights go green (or anytime really – it’s actually illegal).
When you can see out of the bus window into the driver seat of the car next to you and they’re on their phone!! It only takes one small distraction to take out something, or even worse, some one.
Taking a couple extra seconds to be courteous or give someone a small token of appreciation while using the road, can go a long way in making our driving experience a lot better – but it also goes a long way to improving our safety on the road.
