Motorcycle rider Yudhi, was riding home from work when he was t-boned by a P-plater who was driving in a hurry. Yudhi was so badly injured that he was given a 10% chance of survival and left in a coma for 46 days.
The consequences of this crash has had severe and lasting impacts on Yudhi and his family. ...The crash left Yudhi with broken ribs, 2 broken tibias, a broken fibula, a crushed wrist, a broken collar bone, permanent damage to his voice box and reduced lung capacity. Since the crash Yudhi has had 15 operations and will continue to require more over time.
Before the crash Yudhi had a successful career and enjoyed sports. Today, his injuries prevent him from working and participating in physical activities. Yudhi now devotes his time to the Road Awareness Program, delivering hard hitting road safety presentations that give an open and honest insight into the realities of road trauma.
Every time we make poor decisions behind the wheel we're not just risking death, we're risking serious injuries, disability, brain injuries and a painful recoveries. Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, you get to choose the risks, but you don’t get to choose the consequences.
